MIIKA

ALEKSI

MATTI

The roots of Fetus Maximus date back to spring 2011, the first incarnation being a duo of Matti on the bass and Pekka (Steel Dildo) on the drums. Their first tunes were furious, thrashy improvisational pieces with heavy distortion laced with a straight forward punk vibe. In a time of a few months the band recorded hours of material, the style slowly refining towards a more complex and dynamic expression.

In September  Miika joined the group on guitar. Quickly changing the sound of the band, Miika's compositional ideas pushed their expression to new heights, while maintaining the ferocious undertow of the original duo. The new songs dived even deeper into jazz and progressive rock, the evolution of style eventually leading to Pekka's departure  in the end of 2011.

After two months and a few auditions Aleksi joined the band on drums.  Plans of an album started stirring, gigs were booked and new musical elements got thrown into the trio's musical grinder.

In the summer of 2012 the band played their first 4 gigs, leaving behind a wake of confusion and bafflement. The live shows received much praise  and the band's sound continued to evolve.

It was then decided that a full length album was the next logical step as the band felt that releasing only a few songs was simply not enough to showcase their sonic vision.

2013 will see the band playing more gigs and taking on even bigger challenges on their way to total tonal domination.
